Welcome to KC Seamstress. These Terms and Conditions outline the policies that apply when you book an appointment, use our website, or receive services from our studio. By booking with us or using our services, you agree to the terms below.
Services and Appointments
Appointments: All services are by appointment only. Appointments may be scheduled through our online booking platform or directly with our studio. Appointment times are reserved exclusively for you. If you arrive late, your fitting time may be shortened or require rescheduling to respect other clients.
Preparation: Clients are responsible for arriving prepared for fittings with proper undergarments, shoes, and accessories necessary for accurate alterations. Proper preparation ensures the most precise fit and best overall result.
Scope of Services: KC Seamstress provides bridal alterations, vintage reconstructions, custom garment modifications, tailoring, and related design services. Our work often involves modifying existing garments, including delicate fabrics, lace, beading, structured corsetry, or vintage materials. Results are limited by the construction and condition of the original garment.
Pricing and Estimates
Estimates : All pricing discussed during consultations or fittings is an estimate based on the information available at that time. Final pricing may increase if additional labor, materials, structural changes, or design revisions are requested after work has begun.
Deposits: All of our services require a non-refundable deposit or consultation fee to secure your appointment and begin work. Deposits are applied toward your total balance unless otherwise stated.
Final Payment: Full payment is required before garments are released from the studio. Because our work is custom and labor-intensive, payments made toward completed services are non-refundable.
Custom and Alteration Work
Body Changes and Fit: Once work has begun, KC Seamstress is not liable for changes in body size, weight fluctuation, pregnancy, posture changes, or shifts in personal preference. If additional alterations are required due to these changes, they will be treated as new services and may incur additional charges.
Design Changes: We are not responsible for dissatisfaction resulting from a change of mind regarding style, aesthetic direction, or design decisions after alterations or reconstruction has started.
Garment Risk and Condition
Pre-Existing Condition: Alterations involve working with garments that may have prior wear, delicate construction, or previous alterations. While we take every precaution, there is inherent risk when modifying garments, especially vintage or heavily beaded pieces.
Liability for Fabric and Structure: KC Seamstress is not liable for pre-existing damage, fabric weakness, discoloration, bead loss, or structural limitations that become apparent during the alteration process.
Fittings and Timelines
Fittings: Clients are responsible for attending all scheduled fittings. Missed appointments may delay completion and may require additional fees to accommodate adjustments within a shorter timeframe.
Turnaround Times: Estimated completion timelines are provided based on our production schedule and the scope of work. Timelines may shift due to complexity, added services, missed fittings, or unforeseen circumstances.
Delays Outside Our Control: KC Seamstress is not responsible for delays caused by third-party vendors, shipping carriers, fabric availability, or events outside of our control.Garment Risk and Care
Cancellations and Abandoned Garments
Cancellations: Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice will result in a $20 cancellation fee. This fee helps protect the time reserved specifically for your appointment.
Garment Abandonment; Garments must be picked up within 180 days of completion unless otherwise arranged in writing. Items not collected within that timeframe may be considered abandoned and may be donated, disposed of, or otherwise handled at the discretion of KC Seamstress.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, KC Seamstress and its team shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages related to services provided. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount paid for the specific service in question.
Intellectual Property
All content on the KC Seamstress website, including text, branding, imagery, logos, and design concepts, is the property of KC Seamstress and may not be used, reproduced, or distributed without written permission.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kansas. Any disputes arising from services or use of this website shall be resolved under Kansas law.
